The year was 2006. The Tesla Roadster was introduced. Barry Bonds broke Babe Ruth's record. And Sony brought one of the world's earliest Internet-based communication devices to market with the help of Zipit.
Sony wanted to bring to market a new class of device, that allowed customers to communicate, browse the web and share media files, all on one device. They knew they wanted to incorporate Yahoo's instant messaging service, but weren't sure how to bring all the pieces together.
So, Yahoo pointed them to us. (The creators of the world's first portable, Internet-based instant messaging devices.)
Zipit licensed our Internet-based messaging technology and helped Sony embed it into their MyLO (My Life Online) devices. And, we did this before most people had a Wi-Fi connection or knew what an "Internet of Things" product was.
Leveraging our experience in bringing our own wireless devices to market, we helped Sony deliver their next-generation products to customers.
